Q: What happens when the hard disc drive is full?
A: The CCTV system will automatically delete the oldest recording and continue to record.
Q: How much data storage or back-up is required?
A: It’s up to you. Just tell us how long you wish to retain footage for and we’ll configure your system accordingly.
Q: How do I keep footage that I may want to look at in the future?
A: We show you how to move event footage to a USB portable drive, or store it on a segregated portion of the hard disc drive where it won’t be deleted.
Q: What is a surveillance hard disc drive?
A: A hard disc drive that’s manufactured to a higher quality than standard discs because it will be in constant use, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
Q: What is HDD monitoring and why do I need it?
A: We remotely monitor your hard disc drive (HDD) performance so we can alert you to any issues which may have occurred, e.g. power surge corrupting the HDD. This is exceptionally important, as live images will still be visible on your monitor even if the system has stopped recording due to a HDD fault. By being proactive, we ensure you’re always made aware if your system is not fully functioning.
Q: Do I need to buy a monitor?
A: No, all of our installations include the supply of a monitor at the controller.
Q: Can I see the footage from my computer?
A: Yes, client software is available for most of our systems, so you can watch it on your Windows P.C.
Q: Who can view recordings?
A: Viewing of cameras is determined by the user’s authority to view some or all cameras, as defined by the business owner or an authorised person in your business.
Q: Who can view recordings via remote access?
A: Viewing of cameras on the remote App is determined by the user’s authority to view some or all cameras, as defined by the business owner or an authorised person in your business.
Q: How do I see my cameras on my phone or tablet?
A: Via an App we’ll help you set up. Please note, an internet connection is required on site and wherever your mobile device is located.
Q: Can I rewind footage when looking at it on my phone or tablet?
A: Yes, with our XVR CSI Remote App, you can view recorded footage remotely.
Q: Can I zoom in to see something closer?
A: Yes, even if you have fixed lens cameras in operation, all of our CCTV systems allow you to digitally enlarge an image if required. In fact, you can do this on the live view and recorded images from both the main controller in your office and the remote App.
Q: Why are cameras different shapes?
A: The location and position of a camera will determine the best housing (shape of the camera) to be used. For example, a bullet camera may be better with direct sunlight whereas a dome camera in a low position may be best to use in that location, given its vandal-resistant qualities.
Q: What are the camera specifications?
A: Camera specifications are constantly evolving and improving. Please discuss the specifics of your system with your CSI Consultant.
Q: Can I receive motion alerts via the camera system?
A: Yes, you can.
Q: Are your cameras high definition (HD)?
A: Yes, all of our commercial cameras are high definition (HD).
Q: Can all cameras operate in IR mode (Infra-Red / Night Vision) at the same time?
A: Yes, on our CCTV systems this is possible.
Q: Can all cameras simultaneously record in high frame rates?
A: Yes, on our CCTV systems this is possible.
Q: Will the cameras be ok in direct sunlight?
A: Yes, all of our camera housings are heat-resistant metal, not plastic.
Q: Are the CCTV cameras weatherproof?
A: Our camera housing is water and dust proof.
Q: Do I need new cabling?
A: Not always. When practical, we’re able to use existing cabling to save our customers money.
Q: Are your cameras wireless?
A: When it’s not practical to connect cameras via cable we use commercial Wi-Fi connections.
Q: Do you do fibre optic connected camera systems?
A: Yes, when applicable or requested by a customer.
Q: How do I know if the system is recording correctly?
A: We can monitor your hard disc drive performance and advise you if it’s not functioning.
Q: Can I move the system if I move premises?
A: Yes, it’s more practical to move the cameras and controller, but leave the cabling.
Q: Are you police licensed?
A: Yes, our company, sales consultants and installers all hold current licenses with the WA Police Department.
